Meet Tara

TARA WARKENTIN
Hello! My name is Tara, and I’m in my final year of midwifery school at UBC. I’m honoured to be part of your care during pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.

I am a settler of Hungarian, English, and Dutch ancestry. I was born into the hands of midwives here in the Comox Valley and grew up on Cortes Island. I’m thrilled to be practicing closer to home and grateful to be learning on the traditional territories of the K’ómoks First Nation.

Before midwifery, I worked as a youth worker and outdoor educator. These roles taught me the importance of listening, presence, and trust. I especially love supporting youth through pregnancy and birth.

I’m committed to providing culturally safe, trauma-informed care, and see you as the primary decision-maker in your care. bring a quiet, grounded presence to your birth.

Continuity of care is my favourite part of midwifery—building relationships and supporting families throughout the big transitions of pregnancy and parenthood. It is a privilege to witness the strength of birthing people through this time.

When I’m not at the clinic or catching babies, you’ll find me on a long run in the mountains, experimenting in my kitchen, or ski patrolling at Mount Cain.
