Meet Denean

DENEAN GARTNER, RN
Hi, I’m Denean, a Registered Nurse with a passion for women’s health, labour and delivery, and helping families navigate one of life’s most transformative experiences.
I began my nursing career in 2011, working in surgery before moving into labour and delivery in 2022. My path into birth work was deeply influenced by my own experiences as a mother. After two hospital births, I immersed myself in learning about pregnancy and physiological birth while preparing for the home birth of my third daughter. That experience transformed the way I viewed birth and inspired me to pursue the work I feel privileged to do today.
As both a nurse and a mother of three daughters, I am committed to providing evidence-based, holistic education that helps families feel informed, confident, and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Teaching has always been one of my greatest joys, and it is a privilege to support families as they welcome a new baby and embrace this new chapter.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me listening to audiobooks, watching trashy reality TV, walking my Golden Retriever, Honey, or driving my daughters to their many activities. I love living in Comox Valley and connecting to all the nature and beauty it has to offer!
I am grateful to be part of the wonderful team at Cedar House Birth Collective and look forward to supporting your family during this special time.
